Additional Information:

The main focus of research in my laboratory is unravel the epidemiology and molecular mechanisms of foodborne and nosocomial pathogens, with emphasis on antimicrobial resistance, to improve health and well being of humans and animals. Recent grants submitted:

  • Molecular Epidemiology and Key issues in Foodborne Pathogens in Eastern Africa. Submitted to NIH Fogarty International PI: Gebreyes WA., (Co-Is: Dan Janies; Schlesinger L., Wang, S-H)
  • Mitigating Antimicrobial Resistance in Foods of Animal Origin by Systematic Characterization of Selective Pressures Across Food Chain. PI: Gebreyes WA. (Collaborators- Rebecca Garabed, Dan Janies)
